The solo exhibition by painter and graphic artist Susan Hodel (b. 1962) in the Kunstmuseum Solothurn concentrates attention on the basis of her painting, on the canvas and its priming coat. Associated with this is the principle questioning of the picture, of its texture, effect and function. Although the appearance of the works is minimalistic, the process of their creation is a very lengthy one. As formal paradigms, wickerwork and folding are noticeable. This is why the works make an impact, both through their colorfulness and through their structure.
