Understanding and modeling contexts is crucial in recent developments in Computer Science, particularly in Artificial Intelligence and Ubiquitous Computing. However, the nature and management of contexts remain unclear. This thesis proposes definitions for context and context management based on a comprehensive literature review across various fields. A context management system is designed, conceptualizing its operational behavior, rooted in an extension of Bernd Mahr’s Model of Conception (MoC), which serves as the system's knowledge representation layer. Tina Wieczorek has created an initial mathematical model of the MoC using e-set-theory, which is less restricted than Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory with Choice (ZFC), making it suitable for modeling the highly self-referential MoC. The thesis further employs e-set-theory to model the MoC's extension, adapting concepts like pairs and functions from ZFC. Additionally, a theory of modification operations on e-sets is introduced to analyze the implications of changes to an e-set. These advancements enable the construction of a new mathematical model of the extended MoC. While the MoC underpins the context management system, it does not encompass all aspects; the cognitive system DUAL by Boicho Kokinov effectively addresses these gaps by modeling dynamically changing contexts through activation spreading. The thesis concludes by integrating and adapting necessary components from D
