The aim of this work was the identification of three different fossil C19-steranes (19A, 19B and 19C) which were found in sediment rocks and crude oils from Oman. In the course of this study eight C19-standards were prepared for GCMS-comparison with the natural sample. The GCMS data of the synthetic compounds 5α,14β-androstane and D-homo-5α,13β,14α-androstane were in complete agreement with the crude oil components 19B and 19C.
