Stephan Balkenhol, a prominent German sculptor born in 1957, creates wood sculptures that reflect a tradition of portraiture, depicting anonymous yet familiar figures. The volume features Wall’s essay on Balkenhol, a contribution by Felix Krämer from the Städel Museum, and a conversation between art dealer Jörg Johnen and both artists.
