This volume presents a detailed and original study of the traditional doctrine of terms, exploring how scholastic philosophers might have conceived and defended their ideas using contemporary logic and semantics. It offers a systematic reconstruction of significant concepts in the history of logic, remaining faithful to the relevant texts. The work begins with an exposition of the doctrine centered on the semantic opposition between significatio and suppositio, akin to the notions of sense and reference.
