Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay masterminded both the evacuation of the BEF from Dunkirk in 1940 and Operation NEPTUNE, the naval dimension of OVERLORD, the D-Day landings in Normandy in 1944. Sadly Admiral Ramsay did not survive the war, but throughout 1944 he kept a personal diary, which is now published for the first time.
