This work explores the evolution of medieval encyclopedias from comprehensive world books to culturally bound knowledge repositories, exemplified by the Artes mechanicae. It examines secondary knowledge orders in Konrad von Megenberg's Book of Nature and the narrative integration of encyclopedic texts, particularly in the 1587 Faustbuch. The Cyclopaedia Paracelsica Christiana, edited by Samuel Siderocrates, is analyzed as an anti-humanistic manifesto. The text debates whether scientific theory or metaphysics underpins encyclopedic knowledge and delves into the complexities of biblical encyclopedias amidst confessional and topical tensions. Willibald Kobolt's works from 1738 are discussed, alongside the challenges of empirical knowledge in Joachim Jungius's writings. Pierre Bayle's approach to disorder as a method in encyclopedic history is also considered. The relationship between traditional craftsmanship and economic enlightenment is explored, alongside self-reflection in German encyclopedias during the late Enlightenment. The interplay of poetics and encyclopedias is highlighted, particularly in the context of ode and lyric theory. The annotation concludes with a report on the symposium "Encyclopedias of the Early Modern Period" held in Vienna and includes a register of key sources and a selected bibliography of research literature.
