Globalisation, technological progress, demographic change and the trend towards individualisation are just a few factors that have dramatically changed the working environment in recent years. The resulting consequences of today's fast-paced and dynamic economy are challenging. The intensified international competition has raised the pressure for companies to act economically in order to sustain profitable and successful in the future. It seems that these enlarged demands on companies have been transferred to the demands on employees. Today, many employees are exposed to an increased workload, which is often characterised by the feeling of permanent accessibility, a growing pressure on time and performance as well as by working overtime and the expectation for mobility and flexibility. All these factors in turn resulted in the situation of rising numbers of psychological disorders and diseases among the labour force. As a consequence, from all directions the demand for a better reconciliation of work and private life is growing. One objective of this book is to sensitise the reader for the importance and topicality of Work-Life-Balance. What does the concept stand for, why is it so significant today and what options are available for companies to influence the Work-Life-Balance situation of their employees in a positive manner? But how can companies achieve this position, especially under consideration of the altered requirements of the new target group Generation Y? Therefore, the objective of this book is to identify the demands of members of Generation Y from their employers regarding their Work-Life-Balance.
