The Nürnberg Metropolitan Region stands out as one of Europe's most robust economic areas, hosting numerous multinational corporations alongside notable family-owned firms and hidden champions. This volume presents 17 case studies of companies from the region, exploring their international operations. The studies span a wide historical range, from Tucher's early internationalization in the Middle Ages to the impacts of Brexit on contemporary business. Industries represented include high-tech, industrial sectors, service providers, non-profits, and university spin-offs. Nürnberg has a rich tradition in international management research, originating at the Nürnberg School of Commerce, which later evolved into the School of Business and Economics at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg. The school was among the first in German-speaking countries to establish a Chair for International Management. With 30% of its student body coming from abroad, it showcases a high level of internationalization. The institution's research in international management is highly regarded. Through the Nürnberg Edition on International Management, this volume aims to continue this legacy by sharing the latest research insights with academics, students, and practitioners.
