M. L. Elliott's debut book 'MOMO & Other Stories' composes nine short stories that begin with a descent into madness pain and regret in 'Non Compos Mentis' and slowly attacks your soul with a mixture of emotions - only to release you from your pain in the final statement of 'The Last of the Troublesome Folk'. The book holds the following stories, written over the course of two years. 1. Non Compos Mentis. 2. Things That Could Not Be Said. 3. Correspondence from Him to Them. 4. MOMO. 5. The Man from No. 7. 6. With only Water between. 7. Heading back to Camp. 8. A Man is in Cornish. Amateur Perhaps. 9. Alas, The Last of the Troublesome Folk. Elliott has personally selected these stories, not only for the reader to have a varied experience, but also to share elements of his soul and remind the reader that he is only just starting to exercise his talent. Many who read the book find similarities with the works of J. D. Salinger. Elliott's own diversion and reluctance to join a society he perceives as fake and uncaring are not unlike Salinger's famous character Holden Caulfield. Other similarities include Elliott's reclusive nature and his desire to hold as much information from the reader as possible, in order to allow them their own perceptions of meaning within the pages. 'MOMO & Other Stories' is a short book, but one that should deserve a place on your bookshelf.
