This study formulated a phenomenological description of the essential structure of Information Technology (IT) consulting organizations’ internal work environments, specifically job satisfaction and leadership styles of Generation X leaders. The study intended to help IT consulting organizations understand how a leader’s performance can be influenced when retaining talented and satisfied IT professionals becomes a challenge. The study addressed the research question: How do Generation X leaders, who exercise different styles of leadership, in the IT consulting industry perceive job satisfaction? Job satisfaction focused on professional growth opportunities and compensation packages as the primary predictors for job satisfaction. Dr. Elke Christiane Fismer was born in 1969, in Hamburg, Germany. She studied European Business Administration at the Euro-Business-College, in Hamburg, and obtained her Bachelor degree in 1996. She earned her two Master’s degrees (M. B. A. in Telecommunications Management and Master of Management in Human Resources) from the University of Dallas, Irving, Texas, and graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Doctor of Management (D. M.) in Organizational Leadership, in May 2005. Dr. Fismer joined the German corporate industry in 1998, and has served national and international companies in a number of senior functions. Her areas of expertise include Information Technology, Telecommunication, Leadership, Change Management, and Project Management. She is committed to life-long learning and believes in the philosophy of servant leadership.
