Many professions participate in today‟s product development with the aim of achieving optimal results for a product‟s market success. The benefit of this multidisciplinary and cooperative development is an enhancement of basic knowledge by adding expert knowledge of several disciplines. An example of such cooperation – and main focus of this research – is the integration of industrial design into the world of engineering. Especially regarding industrial designers in collaboration with engineers, the flaw of such teamwork can be illustrated as follows: Different ways of thinking based on special methods (chapter 2.3) and tools (chapter 2.4) are causing a gap between these two pro-fessions. This gap is responsible for discrepancies while working in teams. These dis-crepancies can be reduced by optimizing communication, coordination and cooperation, which are the three components of joint operation (chapter 2.5). Special attention is turned to the structure of information flow as a basis of communication and coordina-tion.
