Mehr zum Buch

The present study investigates the economic and technical suitability of additive manufactured jet engine components for series production and goes ever using the classical approach of cost appraisal, evaluates the added value of additive manufactured parts. There is a two-dimensional position issues here. In the media, additive manufacturing productions methods underwent a real hype. Nevertheless there are hesitant expectations on conferences and expert discussions regarding the economic benefit for series production. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the technical ability and possibilities of series economic industrial use in the jet engine industry for highly complex components. By using additive manufacturing processes, component geometries can be implemented that can't be produced by using conventional manufacturing techniques. A direct comparison in terms of cost or technical advantages is thus no longer possible. That's why other models are needed that describe the value of AM components and enable a realistic profitability evaluation. The second focal point of this study, a three-stage evaluation approach is presented that goes over the manufacturing cost approach and can also map all relevant advantages and disadvantages of additive manufacturing.
