In Broken Dove we get to know Treloar's family, especially his sisters, and more about his fascinating Spanish heritage which the family brings colourfully to life. Treloar's father, a Cornish man, got on a Brittany ferry boat in Plymouth one day in his youth, after a few beers, thinking he would go to France.
