The Lily Theatre

The Lily Theater is a debut novel set during China's Cultural Revolution, following twelve-year-old Lian Shui as she accompanies her mother to a reeducation camp. There, she learns from some of China's greatest thinkers and shares her insights with the creatures in a pond. This experience shapes her understanding of life and Mao's teachings.
