He draws heavily on his own experience with the disorder, as both an ADD sufferer and the parent of three diagnosed children. While I was reading Dr. Maté ´s book, I could feel my nervoussystem calm down. What is happening to the (child-)brain in times of (longterm-)stress? I feeled so understood and seen. What a relief. He has a very calm and easy way to tell his point of view, combined with actual science (watch his interviews). Easy to understand and follow, even for non native speakers like myself. He gives many examples out of his life, worktime and work with clients. And tools for working with yourself. It´s a must read for parents, teachers, professionals or people who work with neurodiverse people/children (including trauma, add, ptsd, highsensitivity). The book is a treasure and avabable in many languages.
