Xenophon's Retreat

Set in 401 BC, the story follows Xenophon, who becomes the general of a defeated Greek army after a significant battle in Persia. He faces the daunting task of leading his men on a perilous journey home, traversing hundreds of miles through modern-day Iraq, the mountains of Kurdistan and Armenia, and ultimately reaching the Black Sea. The narrative captures the challenges and conflicts they encounter along the way, highlighting themes of leadership, survival, and resilience in the face of adversity.
