Courtesy of Andrew Carnegie is the fictional account of a small, racially-mixed town that grows into a coalition of caring for each other. Like a microcosm of the world, fresh insights intercept experience for the minister or teacher; the grocer or the pharmacist; the judge and sheriff citizens, changing them and their town. The name Levi was chosen, for it was the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel, a priesthood of tent-dwellers. Used to infer the spiritual and natural integration with the actual, still common to the psyche of the Cheyenne, it emphasizes the wholeness and authenticity of Native American experience. Any resemblance of characters or incidents in the story is unintentional and entirely coincidental.
