In Love, War and Other White Lies, Tony presents twoseparate diaries. One deals mostly withlove and general topics. The secondcovers the Iraqi War and other subjects. Tony's approach is humorous, sarcastic and serious all in differentmeasure. Tony wants to open peoples'minds to the other possible reasons for war and entertain the reader with hislove poetry and other poetry. Tonywants the reader to see the parallels between the white lies we tell in our relationships to avoid "hurting" the other person, and the "small" lies our government tellsus because "they know better" Tonybelieves if one looks at the Communist scare of the 1950's and compares that to the Terrorist scare of today, we need to examine our foreignpolicy to see if we are being fair to everyone. Just as in the 1950's, those who havedifferent views are being seen as less patriotic or sympathizers. Tony would like to say "freedom ofexpression is the true litmus test of a free society," and the degree offreedom matches the tolerance to express oneself - freely. Tony believes the "true" patriot protectsthe right of free expression for all Americans. God Bless America.
