Shoghi Effendi, head of the Bahá'í Faith from 1921 to 1957, made the selection and performed the translation, which was first published 1935. Although the Bab is a Manifestion of God in the Baha'i Faith, he remains a very obscure figure, even to most Baha'is. Although his ministry lasted only from 1844-1850, the effect that his religion and writings have had is staggering.Whether or not you believe Baha'u'llah was the Bab's legitimate sucessor, his movement still merits study among students of comparative religion. Was he starting his own religion that was stolen and twisted after his martyrdom? While the answers to these questions will probably never be conclusively answered, this is a wonderful volume to at least get a glimpse of the Bab in his own words. Buy this book and come to your own conclusion. You may find yourself searching for more works of the Bab, but unfortunately this is the only official compilation of some his writings...
