The study investigates dairy production systems in the BAGOUE region, highlighting that 98% of farm owners are men, predominantly over 45 years old, with only 21% prioritizing livestock farming. The extensive production system lacks infrastructure and inputs, and government support is minimal. A significant portion of farm owners and managers are illiterate, hindering their technical skills in feeding and herd management. Consequently, the local dairy herd, primarily composed of Zébu and Baoulé breeds, is not raised under optimal conditions to reach its production potential.
