Focusing on the management of hospital solid waste, this work explores the sector's historical context and current crisis stemming from a shortage of plastic raw materials. It highlights the impact of rising plastic resin prices and the resulting non-compliance in waste management inputs, which have led to poor-quality products. The study emphasizes the regulatory framework established by Resolution 1164 of 2002 and 2184 of 2019, while acknowledging the critical role of plastic materials in addressing various human needs, particularly in healthcare waste management.

Este trabajo investiga el manejo de residuos sólidos hospitalarios, abordando su crisis actual por la escasez de plástico y el aumento en precios de resinas. Se destaca la importancia de los plásticos en soluciones a necesidades humanas y su regulación bajo las resoluciones 1164 de 2002 y 2184 de 2019.
