Grischka, der Tuschkenenjunge, lebt mit seinem Stamm in einem kleinen Dorf in der Tundra. Grischkas Vater ist Pelztierjäger. Wegen eines Streits muss er die Dorfgemeinschaft verlassen. Eines Tages trifft er auf eine von Jägern verfolgte Bärin, die ein Junges zurücklässt. Grischka nimmt den kleinen Bären mit ins Dorf und zieht ihn dort auf.
