I have read Swami Vivekananda for 17 years . Every single page of his books I have read , re-read and meditated upon. I have slept with his books. In page 82 of his book 'East meets West' he writes:"Mediation means the mind is turned back upon itself. The mind stops all thought-waves and the word stops... Your consciousness expands...."A little further he writes on page 83" When the mind is concentrated and turned back on itself, all within us will be our servants, not our master.."Notice two phrases repeating in the above two sentences" mind is turned back on itself..."I could not read further...For 30 minutes I let the words " mind is turned back on itself..."stare at me...Nothing happenedAnother 30 minutes passed by nothing happenedI had to know what he meant by the mind is turned back on itself... I was not concerned with the intellectual explanation. Vivekananda was a realized soul. His words were luminous... not meant to feed us intellectually but stir the deepest recesses of our soulI sat down before Krishna and meditated...Here is the rest of the story....
