Suellen Ocean schreibt aus ihrer Residenz in den Hügeln Nordkaliforniens, wo sie ihren Schreibberuf ausübt. Ihre professionelle Tätigkeit als Autorin für Printmedien und Hörfunk begann sie in den späten 1980er Jahren. Ihr erstes selbstveröffentlichtes Buch führte dazu, dass sie „offiziell“ veröffentlicht wurde, als sie 1998 gebeten wurde, an der Anthologie „The Simple Life“ von Berkley Books, New York, mitzuwirken. Sie ist Autorin von sechzehn Büchern, die eine Vielzahl von Themen und Ideen erforschen.
