The definitive exploration--told in revelatory detail--of the writing, recording, and release of John Lennon's celebrated and magical fourth solo album Mind Games, and the era that inspired it.

This study examines the waves of graffiti that occur before, during, and after a conflict—important tools of political resistance that make protest visible and material.Graffiti makes for messy politics. In film and television, it is often used to create a sense of danger or lawlessness. In bathroom stalls, it is the disembodied expression of gossip, lewdness, or confession. But it is also a resistive tool of protest, making visible the disparate voices and interests that come together to make a movement. In Conflict Graffiti , John Lennon dives into the many permutations of graffiti in conflict zones—ranging from the protest graffiti of the Black Lives Matter movement in Ferguson and the Tahrir Square demonstrations in Egypt, to the tourist-attraction murals on the Israeli Separation Wall and the street art that has rebranded Detroit and post-Katrina New Orleans. Graffiti has played a crucial role in the revolutionary movements of these locales, but as the conflict subsides a new graffiti and street art scene emerges—often one that ushers in postconflict consumerism, gentrification, militarization, and anesthetized forgetting.Graffiti has an unstable afterlife, fated to be added to, transformed, overlaid, photographed, reinterpreted, or painted over. But as Lennon concludes, when protest movements change and adapt, graffiti is also uniquely suited to shapeshift with them.

With first-hand commentary by Lennon, Ono, and other members of the band, and packed with previously unseen photographs by those who documented their lives, this incisive volume offers new insights into the raw emotions and open mindset of Lennon after marriage to Ono and the breakup of the Beatles, to the making of the album and revealing interview with Jann Wenner in December 1970. Primal therapy had a huge impact on Lennon's songwriting, resulting in the creation of intensely personal, soul-baring tracks. Rolling Stone interviews conducted in 1970 and published in 1971.
John Lennon was many things to many people: singer, songwriter, poet, political activist and a member of what was, inarguably, the greatest rock-and-roll band of all time. But to Sean Lennon he was Daddy, a role he took on with as much humour, intensity and enthusiasm as any he had tackled. John made the drawings in this book for and with Sean. Drawing pictures and making up funny captions was one of the ways they played together. It was how John taught Sean about the simple joys of creativity and one of the many ways John was able to express his real love for - and great joy in - his son. This collection of forty magical, whimsical and often very funny animal drawings have never been presented to the public before.

Tragickou smrťou Johna Lennona roku 1980 v New Yorku sa Beatles navždy stali legendou. ......

With a New Introduction by Jon Savage
Paul McCartney's Introduction to In His Own Write: `At Woolton village fete I met him. I was a fat schoolboy and as he leaned an arm on my shoulder, I realised that he was drunk. We were twelve then, but, in spite of his sideboards, we went on to become teenage pals. Aunt Mimi, who had looked after him since he was so high, used to tell me he was cleverer than he pretended, and things like that. He had written a poem for the school magazine about a hermit who said: 'as breathing is my life, to stop I dare not dare'. This made me wonder right away - 'Is he deep?' He wore glasses so it was possible, and even without them there was no holding him. 'What bus?' he would say to howls of appreciative laughter. He went to Quarry Bank High School for Boys and later attended to the Liverpool Art College. He left school and played with a group called the Beatles, and, here he is with a book. Again I think - 'Is he deep? Is he arty, with it or cultured?' There are bound to be thickheads who will wonder why some of it doesn't make sense, and others who will search for hidden meanings. 'What's a Brummer?' 'There's more to the `dubb owld boot' than meets the eye. ' PS : I like the drawings too.

All We are Saying, John Lennon and Yoko Ono
On the 20th anniversary of his death, a rare, poignant John Lennon document in print and updated.Lennon's last interview before his assassination on December 8, 1980, was first published in "Playbo"y in a 20,000 word format in November that year. It saw limited distribution in the US in its full form as a 200-page book, reflecting 20 hours of tapes made in September 1980, but was never seen elsewhere, and is now a collector's item. This new, revised edition is published with the rare participation of Yoko Ono, and includes a new interview with her. Here John sums it all up: the Beatles, his former partners, his childhood, the seeds of rebellion and artistry, the creation of his music, the relationship with Yoko Ono, politics, sex, passion, peace. Interwoven with the transcripts of the interview sessions is David Scheff's reportage of their encounters, from recording studios to signing autographs for fans on those fateful Dakota Building steps.
"It is fascinating of course to climb inside a Beatle's head to see what's going on there, but what counts is that what's going on there is really fascinating".--London Sunday Times 30 two-color line drawings.
