The book presents findings on medieval and early modern Latin inscription culture from the territory of today’s Slovakia. The authors show the multidisciplinary character of epigraphy, which is extremely relevant not only for history as such. Epigraphy is of great importance for the history of art, as the objects bearing inscriptions are very often immaterial as well as material artifacts. Due to the fact that many inscriptions are associated with sacral monuments and architecture, their examination helps church historians, religious scholars and theologians. In terms of quantity and quality, inscriptions on various sepulchral monuments dominate. Such texts are very useful for their genealogical and prosopographic dimension. And there are texts of a literary nature, which are of interest to literary historians.
