Focusing on the aftermath of the Indian partition, this study examines ten Indian novels published between 2001 and 2013 that tackle post-partition communal violence. It analyzes how these works engage with historical and political contexts, challenging existing narratives about violence. The study also delves into the aesthetic strategies authors use to depict trauma and violence, such as magical realism and ekphrastic techniques, addressing societal amnesia surrounding these events. Notable authors featured include Shashi Tharoor and Githa Hariharan.
