Just outside the neon Strip, Las Vegas Metro police find the mauled corpse of a young showgirl in the Nevada desert, a crime that shocks even this city of excess. Detective Sergeant Romulus Poe, a seasoned Vegas native, is called to the scene. The body is badly mutilated, with missing organs, and the harsh desert conditions complicate forensics. Poe is haunted by the similarities to a previous horrific murder attributed to an anonymous killer known as "the Bogeyman." Poe must navigate through Native American mysticism, medieval legends, and hidden twentieth-century scientific secrets to unravel the sordid history of Vegas and solve the series of gruesome murders. He races against time to save a woman he once loved, as they all become entangled in a perilous dance of Moon Music.
