Set against the backdrop of Brazil's dictatorship in the seventies, the story follows Robert, a British executive who has embraced life in Brazil while his family has returned to England. Despite his success as an engineer, Robert struggles with personal relationships, particularly with women. His life takes a turn when he befriends a disillusioned army officer who joins a guerrilla group, putting Robert in a precarious situation.
