"Uncle Wonderful" is an unconventional love story between twenty-nine year-old Jake Ford and his gay Uncle Frank Ford. It's actually just one of the three love stories in the book. The other two are between Jake and his wife Maddy as well as an unrequited love story between Frank and his friend Dr. Michael Martone. Jake is the central character in the story. Having recently relocated to Los Angeles from his native Chicago, he ambivalently reconnects with his writer/uncle who he hasn't seen since childhood. Maddy is hoping that reconnecting with a family member will help unlock Jake's petrified emotional state. It's causing serious problems in their marriage. Jake's problems reach a crisis state on multiple fronts. At the same time, a horrendous, coming out of nowhere, crises pushes Frank to his limits. Will unpeeling the layers of their lives ultimately bring destruction or salvation? If you think you already know, don't be so sure.
