Kniha je chronologicky seřazený souhrn filozofických směrů a jejich hlavních představitelů - obsahuje základní informace, které usnadní orientaci v oboru atd., ale pro bližší informace je nutné dohledat jinde. Dobrý je seznam bibliografie. Knize lze vytknout určitou disproporčnost - některé filozofické směry a někteří filozofové mají opravdu velmi málo prostoru, ale je to asi umění možného. Nicméně nic lepšího v češtině na trhu není.

Kniha je psána velmi čtivě a je tak dostupná nejen studentům a milovníků filozofie. Zároveň čtenáři poskytne solidní základ pro případné studium filozofie či jiných oborů s ní spjatých (kterých je spousta).
