This book presents a comprehensive overview of contemporary Australian studio glass for an American audience, tracing an international network of craft influences since the mid-1970s. It clarifies glass production techniques from manufacturing to finished products and showcases significant contemporary glasswork that is not blown. The narrative begins in 1974 with Richard Marquis's visit to Australia, where he promoted studio glass and established hot shops in educational institutions. His collaboration with Australian artist Nick Mount sparked a lineage of blown-glass artists featured in the book. A second lineage emerged in 1979 when Klaus Moje met the founder of Oregon's Bullseye Glass Company, leading to the development of fusible, compatible glass at Bullseye, which significantly advanced kiln-formed glasswork, particularly in Australia. The book highlights the contributions of 25 Australian artists interconnected through workshops, shared materials, and collaborative efforts. Exhibition curator Vicki Halper, an expert in Pacific Northwest art, collaborates with esteemed Australian art historians Margot Osborne and Grace Cochrane, while Lani McGregor, co-owner of Bullseye Glass, adds her expertise as director of Bullseye Gallery.
